From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by the warm hospitality of owners Dave and Bibi, whose welcoming nature makes you feel right at home. Imagine finding a quaint café in the middle of nowhere—it's the kind of place that serves not just food, but memories. As noted by Jessica Kirkpatrick, one lucky visitor even stumbled upon Dave celebrating his birthday with an extraordinary homemade apple pie fresh out of the oven. You simply can’t resist the temptation of their freshly baked goods, bursting with flavor and made with love.

The menu, while not overly extensive, is bursting with tantalizing offerings. The highlight? The glorious New York Cheesecake that Daithí Kilcourse raved about, alongside beautifully crafted homemade scones that melt in your mouth. Sip on a rich, aromatic coffee while savoring these delightful treats, and you’ll understand why so many return to this enchanting spot. There's something extraordinarily special about enjoying these sweet delights in such a picturesque surrounding.

As you take your time to savor your treats, you might find yourself chatting with Dave, who has a captivating life story, including the tale of a platinum album that hangs proudly on the wall—giving the café a unique artistic flair. Keir Cranton beautifully articulated this experience, noting how they found unexpected joy in sharing moments with Dave and even playing alongside Finn, the friendly dog who adds to the café's charm.

Killing Time Café isn't just a place to grab a bite; it's where connections are formed over shared stories and laughter. According to Mike Her, the café is a quiet retreat that invites meaningful conversation and intimacy with its hosts. We happened to stop by on Dave’s birthday and it was the most pleasant place we’ve stumbled upon in all our travels of Ireland. The cafe is in his shed, and upon ringing a bell he came out from his home carrying an entire freshly baked apple pie that his wife had just made. We bought and scarfed down the entire thing- it was delicious!! It was a pleasure chatting with Dave and gushing over the platinum record he so casually has for music he wrote and produced. If you are driving through the Gap of Dunloe or just taking a drive through the Valley- this is a must stop for good pastries and interesting conversation!

We were driving through the Black Valley and spotted this wonderful cafe. We met Bibi outside and she welcomed us in and made us some beautiful coffees. We enjoyed homemade scones and New York Cheesecake. We stayed and chatted to the wonderful owners for a while. Beautiful place and beautiful people running it. Oh and a beautiful dog called Fin is great fun too.

It was a wonderful surprise to find this cafe in such a remote area. Great apple pie cheesecake and coffee. Chatted to the host who has a wonderful life story to tell, including why he has a platinum albumn on the wall. It was a beautiful day, and we sat outside and were entertained by Finn, David's dog. Killing Time is exactly what we did for a short while. These moments are rare and need to be indulged in when opportunity permits! Thanks, David.

Great quiet cafe „in the middle of nowhere” with wonderful hosts. We had a wonderful chat about life and music. They also offer B&B for 2 or 2+1.

Great stop for coffee and stories by the owner! We came when it was raining and the sign was saying open! The cafe seemed closed but we rang a bell and voila - we have freshly bakes scones, home-made cheese cake and coffee! What a great time with David, will come again! Cash only, we paid in foreign currency

Decided to stop at a cafe, which is some kilometres off the main road, Ring of Kerry. Was the best decision ever, as the view is great, the atmosphere is relaxing, the service ist charming and if the dog wants to play, it's just fun!!!
